The panorama of Shindobi and the tomb of Wolsandaegun

Appointed Number : No.1 of Regional Cultural Assets Location: Goyangsi Dukyanggu Shinwondong San 16-35 The tomb of Wolsandaegun is locatedis shinwondong Neunggol and the wife(Sunchon Mrs. Park)'s burial mound is behind it. In front of the big burial mound of Wolsandaegun there are a tombstone, Sangsuk, Muninsok, Mangjusok, Jangmyeongdeung and Shindobi and it is being a good material in researching the tombs of Joseon. There are Bidu which Unmun carved and a square Daesuk behind the Sangsuk, and the scale is height 180 centimeters, width 74 centimeters, thickness 32 centimeters. Three sangsuk of jangpansuk are lying down and the scale is 270 centimeters and side 155 centimeters. The tomb of Wolsan is similar to a King's tomb, thus it does not have Sukma, Sukyang, Sukho and etc. This means that the elder brother of Sungjong loved Wolsandaegun much and also shows how prosperous the era was. There is a myogal, sangsuk, Jangmyeongdeung in front of the tomb of Wolsandaegun and the mangjuseok and Seokin is on each side. It is just the way it was made. On the backside of the tomb is the tomb of Mrs. Park the wife of Wolsandaegun(Seungpyeongbubuin), and she was the great mother of Yeonsangun, who was an actual mother since the loss of his mother. However Yeonsangun followed the woman dearly and later on went through a sad trial being charged of having an affair with him. The shindobi of Wolsandaegun is located in front of the tomb of Mrs. Park that is placed in Shinwondong Neunggol village. This tombstone which was built by the order of King Seongjong in the year 20th(1489) and is consisted of Daejwa, Bishin, and Isu. In the Daejwa there is a Bijwa so that one can put a Bishin and patterns of lotuses are carved in. The Bimun of the Bishin has been harmed in the wind and rain and is hard to decode. There are junjas that expressed the moon and the mountain on top of the Bishin and it is quite interesting. The height of the Bishin is 218 centimeters, width 105 centimeters and thickness 32 centimeters and Imsahong made and wrote the Bimun, and Junaek also wrote it together. There are fancy patterns of the dragon in the Isu that is connected to Bishin. In the front underneath there is a dragon looking up, and on the top of the right side there is a dragon looking downward, Both of these dragon have patterns of clouds delicately carved in. Wolsandaegun Ijung was a royal family who was born in 1454 and died in the age of 35. He was the first son of the King Chujon Dukjong and the elder brother of Sungjong and the name of adulthood was Jami, and the name called comfortably was Pungwoljeong. Sejong is the great grandfather and Sejo is the grandfather. However Ijung didn't become the king. Why didn't he become king when he was the first son and was the accurate age to reign? He was raised as Wolsangun at age 7 in 1460, and was appointed as Hunrokdaebu together with the younger brother Jaeulsangun in 1468. Yejong died the next year he was king and the throne was to be given ot one of these: Yejong's son Jeandaegun, Dukjong's son Wolsangun and Jaeulsangun. So the queen with the son took the King's mission and judged that Jeandaegun was too young and Wolsangun was not healthy enough and so that Jaeulsangun who had an excellent personality was to succeed to the throne, and the coronation was held the next day Yejong died. The historians say Jaeulsangun succeeded to the throne for another reason. There was no basis of Wolsandaegun's health being bad, and Jaeulsangun was as young as Jeandaegun. It was because of his father-in-law, Han Myung Hwe. Hanmyunghwe was one of the top man of power together with Shin Suk Joo, and by succeeding Sungjong to the throne, he enjoyed the utmost power. Jeandaegun and Wolsandaegun who didn't become the king was to be left to be called a rebel. There are many situations of princes who have not become king gets killed suppressively. However, these two boys were not that stupid. Jeandaegun acted like a foolish guy and was able to break free and Wolsandaegun looked as if he was not interested in politics and was able to live a retired life. Maybe his name Pungwoljung might have come from this reason.
