“City with people more beautiful than flower, Goyang” The fifth generation of popular election starting from the philosophy as a happy city with a million populations based on people is now facing the 3rd year of anniversary.

As Goyang-si was evaluated as ‘the city that people wanted to live at the most’ in the fifth generation of popular election, the sixth generation of popular election has been focusing on the project of ‘unified Korea Silicon Valley’ that 30 trillion KRW is expected along with 25 thousand opportunities of employment and new investment of 6.7 trillion KRW and creating a new huge town for the future. Furthermore, they achieved no local government bond for the first time among cities with 5 hundred thousand populations by reinforcing the transparency for local finance while attracting large-scale development business in Gyeonggi-do with central government including Goyang Ilsan Techno-Valley, Goyang juvenile smart town, and New Korean wave cultural tour belt to open up a possibility to become self-leading city.

Goyang-si has submitted the suggestion for policies that contained businesses related to current issues such as ‘Unified Korea Silicon Valley project’ that was proposed by Goyang-si and agrered with the president, Jaein Moon in the election and requested to include it as national policy business. For the remaining one year, it is expected to be an important period for diffusing innovative policies of Goyang-si that have been worked on for 7 years through the fifth and sixth popular election to the entire nation.

Goyang-si will focus on core businesses including ① Unified Korea Silocon Valley, ② City where people prefer to live at the most, ③ City with zero local government bond for the first time among cities with more than 5 hundred thousand populations, ④ City creating sustainable opportunities for employment, ⑤ Representative city of Korean wave for cultural tour in Korea ⑥ City with highest rate of participation of citizens in Korea ⑦ Safe city from disaster, ⑧ Best welfare city in Korea, ⑨ Special city of peaceful unification with priority on peace and human rights, ⑩ Establishment of innovative personnel system through preferred position with 1.04 million citizens.

Goyang-si said, “As there has been showing visible outcomes from the communication, innovation, and cooperative administration for seven years through the fifth and sixth generation of popular election in the past, we will focus more on the administration so that Goyang-si is able to lead the fourth industrial revolution by thoroughly preparing for the Unified Korea Silicon Valley while sharing the outcomes of the tenth administration with citizens, diffusing outstanding administration to the entire nation, and improving the reputation of the city with a million populations.”
