The early era of Joseon, The square shaped burial mound, The tomb of Mr. Lee Cheon Woo

Location: Gyeongki Province Goyangsi Ilsandonggu Seongsukdong San 203

The tomb of Mr. Lee Chun Woo is located in the side of Hwangryong Mountain in the left side of Sanggamchun Sungsukdong of 86th Gobongro which is connected to the direction of Bongilcheon in the Jungsan town.

It is a rectangular tomb where the wife, Mrs. Min of Yeoheung lays and the burial mound is 20pyeong and creates the 30 meter wall.

There is a Sangsuk, Hyanrosuk, Jangmyeongdeung in front of the tomb and the tomb which was built in 1979 there are Muninseok on the right and left and 4 steps of floors.

Lee Chun Woo is the first government official of Joseon and lives in Jeonju and is the son of Lee Won Gye who is the elder brother of Taejo Lee Sung Gye. In the 18th year of King Kongmin he assumed the leadership as Dongreongbu and went under the command of Lee Sung Gye and defeated the Japanese raiders and helped Lee Sung Gye in 1392 and contributed in opening Joseon.

There is a story related to him as below.

When Lee Chun Woo was retiring(1416) Taejong said 'You have contributed a lot and I haven't rewarded you so I reward you with 80 good rice paddy and 80 servants.'. However Lee Chun Woo refused and said 'Please give me the two hawks that is sitting on top of the arm warmers'.

At that time Taejong liked hawking. However, Lee Chun Woo advised him roundaboutedly to concentrate on his political affairs. This made Taejong smile and he accepted the offer.
