Goyang-si is not the biggest or richest city or the city with the most population in Korea. However, Goyang-si is one of the cities that people prefer to live the most in Korea. Goyang-si has already been rated on top by many of the groups multiple times. Especially, it is interesting to see that Goyang-si has been maintaining one of the top ten cities and also been rated on top for many times. This might be the result from continuous investment and know-how and experience from infrastructure from the past.
In general, there are many cases that such investigation tends not to reflect the satisfaction of residents in the area. However, Goyang-si turned out that the satisfaction level of current residents was very high. According to the results of survey conducted on residents in Goyang-si, there were only about 1.4% of respondents indicating that they were not satisfied with environment in Goyang-si. If the current residents rated their own city high, it must be really the city that people prefer to live at.

Therefore, creating an opportunity for employment shows the competitive power of the country or government (or local community) as well as the capacity of public officials. In addition, Goyang-si has been rated on top among 161 cities or guns in the evaluation of ‘capacity of sustainable employment opportunity.’ As they focus on the ‘creation of employment opportunity’ as a main assignment, Goyang-si has invited 1,900 companies recently confirming the establishment of Techno-Valley that more than 18 thousand people would find an opportunity for employment. In addition, they are expecting to create 170 thousand opportunities for employment as well as 25 trillion KRW of economic effect for the next 10 years with K-culture valley project. With these activities, Goyang-si is pursing to create the city ‘as Silicon Valley in Korea’ and is evaluated to be expected to achieve more in the future.
